Paul Soupiset [SOUP • a • ZAY] is a multidisciplinary designer, storyteller, and artist whose work spans brand strategy, graphic design, illustration, speculative fiction, animation, poetry, and songwriting. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, Paul helps mission-driven organizations and major brands alike find clarity and connection through the power of story.
By day, he leads Soupiset Design, a strategy-driven graphic design practice focused on helping organizations uncover, clarify, and express the stories at the heart of their work. Over the past three decades, he has shaped award-winning design and communications for clients ranging from regional nonprofits and Tier One universities to major publishers and Fortune 200 companies. His work is grounded in the belief that every great brand tells a story—and that strategy, creativity, and craftsmanship can uncover and amplify those stories with lasting emotional impact.
Paul’s past roles include Director of Strategy and Lead Creative at Parallel Brand Agency, founding partner and Creative Director of Toolbox Studios, and senior creative roles at the H. E. Butt Foundation and Creative Parc. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Graphis, PRINT Magazine, HOW Magazine, STEP Magazine, EdPress, Logo Lounge, and Creativity; he’s earned more than 100 design awards, including three national ADDYs, an International Gold Quill from IABC, and numerous accolades across Texas, including nods from the Dallas Show, the Golden Jalapeños, SXSW Interactive, and multiple Best of Shows from the San Antonio Advertising Federation.
He earned his BA in journalism and advertising design from Baylor University, with a minor in studio art. Outside his professional work, Paul writes speculative fiction, poetry, and original music. He has published three collections of original poetry and recently completed his debut novel, The Celestilore, a science fantasy adventure featuring a 272-year-old automaton and a neurodivergent girl swept up in a struggle over an ancient and mysterious artifact. The novel explores justice, belonging, and the redemptive power of found family, echoing Paul’s enduring belief that storytelling, in all its forms, has the power to heal, connect, and inspire.
He shares life with a beloved diaspora of four grown children, an amazing partner and her three remarkable kids, and an imperious cat named Murphy.
